Insomnia

Insomnia in the Warehouse District never strikes me as all that solitary. Living across the street from several cold storage companies means the area only really gets jumping at night. Constant sound outside of the window keeps you company, even with the wife, cats, neighbors are asleep.

Among other things in the past couple months, I have neglected this space. I mean to amend that record.

New media fire.

Watching so much of my home county burn down over the past couple days, it is a wonder how much new media types have greatly increased the speed with which great amounts of data get sent to people in need. Take the fire in San Diego right now. There is a Google map regularly updated by KPBS which contains a wealth of data overlaid upon the existing map sets. This is rich data. This is augmented reality in its most meaningful demonstration yet. Phone tree blasts are being carried out via reverse 911. 500,000 people evacuated with ease, eased by the wealth of data available to both evacuator and evacuee.

Pretty damn impressive.

Suffer the Cat Photos

The main purpose of reengaging with this blog is for me to have a constant creative outlet. That being said, anybody reading this may need to suffer many, many cat photos.

Downtown.

I just recently moved into the warehouse district here in Los Angeles. The near constant visual stimulation of living in and about downtown is a far cry from the stagnant creative world I lived amongst in my Santa Monica adjacent rental townhouse.

The combination of the move and my remergence into studying photography has been a creative boon, yielding, for me, the chance for near constant creative output.
