Living across the street from several cold storage companies means the area only really gets jumping at night. Constant sound outside of the window keeps you company, even with the wife, cats, neighbors are asleep. Among other things in the past couple months, I have neglected this space. Take the fire in San Diego right now. There is a Google map regularly updated by KPBS which contains a wealth of data overlaid upon the existing map sets. This is rich data. This is augmented reality in its most meaningful demonstration yet. Phone tree blasts are being carried out via reverse 911. 500,000 people evacuated with ease, eased by the wealth of data available to both evacuator and evacuee. The near constant visual stimulation of living in and about downtown is a far cry from the stagnant creative world I lived amongst in my Santa Monica adjacent rental townhouse.
